Check the exact license
Search DBPR using the license number, then match the individual and associated business to your proposal. Check current status and the authorized scope. Marine license categories differ; a license for one type of work does not establish authority for every seawall task.
Ask for evidence you can verify
- Current insurance evidence confirmed with the insurer or agent.
- Recent references for comparable work and permission to contact them.
- A clear responsibility split for survey, engineering, permits, and inspections.
- A written scope, exclusions, schedule assumptions, warranty, and payment milestones.
Who does what?
Your project may need a licensed engineer, surveyor, and appropriately licensed contractor. Ask the permitting authority and each professional to confirm the boundaries of their role.
